Link Age Southwark run friendly social and activity groups for Southwark residents over the age of 60 and people of any age living with a diagnosis of dementia. We welcome new members, and our groups are suitable for a broad range of abilities.

EXERCISE 

Yoga   

This group meets weekly to enjoy gentle chair-based yoga. Yoga is particularly suited to those who may be struggling with the effects of reduced mobility, as well as those who wish to improve their general sense of well-being. Our professional yoga tutor will show you how to modify the exercises to accommodate any physical limitations.

Seated Dance   

This group meets weekly. With guidance from our experienced tutor, you will have the opportunity to exercise every part of the body from head to foot and to express yourself through dance movements.

Gentle Exercise   

These groups meet weekly to enjoy gentle exercises tailored to people’s abilities. Catering for those wanting slower-paced, chair-based exercise or something a little more energetic.

SOCIAL   

Although all our groups have a social element, some groups require nothing more of you than to sit in the company of others and enjoy the chat.

Games Hour and Community Lunch (East Dulwich Grove)

Weekly, Wednesday, SE22    

We run a games hour before an established lunch club, run by the United Reformed Church. A small payment is required for the hearty three-course lunch, but you can join the games hour before lunch for free.    

Soup and chat (East Dulwich Grove)

The United Reformed Church run a free lunch (soup and bread and, sometimes, a dessert!) and social session every Friday afternoon.

This group, run jointly with St Barnabas Church, offers a light lunch (free of charge) with the opportunity to have a chat with others.    

Singing (East Dulwich)   

Weekly, Thursday morning, SE22     

This group brings together singers of all levels and accommodates all tastes. Everyone is welcome.

Alongside our groups for older people, Link Age Southwark also runs groups for people living with dementia.   

Musical Memories (Nunhead)                

Weekly, Tuesday afternoon, SE15

The group is run by an experienced tutor who leads the singing including warm-up exercises, rounds and themed songs. Singing is often accompanied by an array of percussion instruments and the group promotes a feeling of wellbeing and positivity.   

Wellbeing Wednesdays (Nunhead)           

Weekly, Wednesday afternoon, SE15    

Each session offers a combination of creative activities and exercise. Join this group to have fun, share happiness and build connections. 

Reading Group (Dulwich)        

Monthly, Thursday afternoon, SE21

Each session focuses on the joy of reading aloud together from a wide range of sources – short story collections, poetry, non-fiction and extracts from novels.  

Arts Group (Dulwich)        

Monthly, Thursday afternoon, SE21   

This group encourages members to appreciate and participate in a variety of different art forms, including visual art, movement and music.   

Peer Social Group (Dulwich)        

Fortnightly, Thursday afternoon, SE21     

Each session is designed to offer a variety of activities to provide cognitive stimulation, including quizzes, games, movement, conversation and more.   

 

Carers’ Group (Online)

This group provides an opportunity to share experiences of caring and to exchange ideas and advice in a supportive, non-judgemental space.
